Case Study 01 Youth Aviation Education Launched April 2026

LearnBuildSoar.
From founding meeting to launch.

LearnBuildSoar.com is the digital home of the Brazos River Soaring Association — a volunteer-led nonprofit in Granbury, Texas offering free glider flight training, hands-on aircraft restoration, and a gamified achievement certification program across three disciplines: Learn, Build, and Soar. The site was built from scratch in April 2026, going from no web presence to a fully operational nine-page platform, certificate system, and trifold brochure in a single accelerated build window.

What was there before.

Before the build, the Brazos River Soaring Association had no web presence of any kind — no domain, no social profiles, no digital assets. The organization existed entirely through word of mouth, EAA Young Eagles event participation, and the personal networks of founders Dick Keyt and Ray Lewis. There was no way for a prospective student, donor, or sponsor to find, evaluate, or contact the organization digitally.

Without a web presence, the association had no mechanism to recruit students, attract sponsors, document its achievement program, or position itself for grant funding from organizations like the AOPA Foundation, EAA Foundation, or corporate STEM giving programs. The program’s zero-cost participation model — its strongest differentiator — was effectively invisible to every family, donor, and institution that could have benefited from it.

The aircraft, instructors, grass airstrip, and machine shop already existed. Everything needed to operate was in place. The missing piece was a way for the world to know it.

The decision to build came in April 2026, triggered by attending the association’s founding organizational meeting at Ray Lewis’s home in Pecan Plantation, Granbury — held immediately following a Young Eagles event on April 17–18, 2026. The build began the same week.

What we built.

Foundation-tier build, with Discovery conducted inside the founding organizational meeting itself. The full nine-page site, 31-certificate system, trifold brochure, and brand identity were delivered within days of the initial session. Four decisions shaped the result.

DECISION 01
Identity built from a logo, not a brief.
The association had one existing asset — a clean circle logo with the real glider silhouette breaking through the ring, arc text reading LEARN BUILD SOAR and BRAZOS RIVER SOARING ASSOCIATION, already in PDF vector format. Every design decision — the three SVG logo color variants, the letterhead, the cert headers, the Kadence header row, the animated homepage hero — was derived from that single asset. Total brand coherence without a formal discovery process.
DECISION 02
31-certificate achievement system as content architecture.
Rather than a standard programs page, the build architected a gamified 31-certificate system across three disciplines — Learn, Build, and Soar — with individual skill certs, discipline master awards, and a final program completion certificate. This gave the site deep topical authority for SEO, strong FAQ content surface, and a tangible value proposition that no competing youth aviation program in Texas offers.
DECISION 03
Canvas-rendered volumetric cloud hero.
The homepage hero uses a JavaScript canvas renderer producing real-time volumetric cumulus clouds with the association’s actual white glider drifting beneath them at soaring speed with a gentle thermal bob. No video, no stock photography, no plugin dependency. The effect communicates the emotional experience of soaring in the first three seconds of any visit.
DECISION 04
Print collateral built simultaneously with the site.
A full trifold brochure was designed and exported as two print-ready 400 DPI PDFs (INSIDE and OUTSIDE) in Affinity Publisher, with a continuous film strip across all six panels featuring line drawings of actual association photography. Building print and digital in the same window ensured brand consistency and gave the founders a physical leave-behind for sponsor and donor conversations from day one.

What got delivered.

Measured against a zero baseline — the property had no prior web presence. These are the tangible deliverables that exist today.

Lighthouse, Core Web Vitals, and organic traffic data will be added as the post-launch measurement window matures.

What ongoing looks like.

LearnBuildSoar is a nonprofit volunteer organization with no recurring revenue at launch. Care tier and cadence will be established as sponsorship and donor revenue mature.

CARE TIER
To be established
A lower-cost Care entry point is the right fit until sponsorship and donor revenue catches up. The 31-certificate architecture and nine discipline pages create a strong foundation for Care + Content expansion once formal membership and sponsor intake begins.
CONTENT SURFACE
9 pages, 7 FAQ clusters
Nine full content pages at launch covering all three disciplines, fleet, people, safety, sponsors, successes, and first flight. Seven FAQ clusters embedded across discipline pages. The certificate system represents some of the deepest topical coverage of glider achievement training of any organization website in Texas.
OPERATIONAL READINESS
Sponsor prospecting directory
A 150+ named-prospect directory was delivered alongside the site, organized across 12 categories: soaring-specific, national aviation, Texas aviation, retail, fuel, agricultural, tools, local business, youth/STEM, corporate foundations, insurance, and aviation media. The founding team can begin outreach immediately.
